I have a great affinity for immersive themed environments and experiential event design. Over the past 10 years, I’ve created several small ventures that have involved live themed events. My skills in experiential event design grow with each new project.
Glow Golf Island
(Miniature Golf Course)
I designed and built this 9-hole blacklight miniature golf course. The course is currently active at Central Escapes in Mount Pleasant, MI, USA. The course features a tiki island theme, complete with a 4-foot glowing foam moai statue. The course is proving popular with players of all ages.
Intrigue Escape Games
(Escape Rooms)
For almost three years I was the designer and co-owner/operator of Intrigue Escape Games. We created four original escape rooms, each with a different theme. The games were “Save The Concert”, “Dinosaur Detective”, “Crazy Christmas Heist”, and “Supervillain Sabotage”. I designed the puzzle flow for each game and we created original sets, props. puzzles, and audio/video for each escape room. In addition to creating the games, we were also the only employees, so we acted as Game Masters for hundreds of escape games. The business was profitable but unfortunately, we were forced to sell due to the pandemic.
Dark Realms
(Haunted Attraction)
Dark Realms was a small indoor/outdoor haunted house that we created as a fundraiser for the local animal shelter. We operated the attraction in October for three consecutive years. We created custom blacklight reactive sets, props, costumes, and special effects.
Tiki Storm
(Portable Mini-Golf)
My first themed attraction was designing and creating a portable mini-golf course (for live events). Tiki Storm was different from other portable mini-golf courses in that most portable courses are not themed. Tiki Storm had a fun tiki island theme; complete with custom-built tiki obstacles, a foam-carved 5-foot moai head, and 7-foot tall artificial palm trees. To make things even more original, we created everything to be blacklight reactive, so the course itself (and all props) glowed.
UFO Prop
(Halloweeen Prop)
I created this prop (with one assistant) for a Halloween event. The 7-foot-wide UFO contains LEDs, lasers, and fog.
